In ancient times, Pachira plant was associated with many myths and legends. Pachira is said to be the product of a poor Taiwanese farmer who found a small plant growing in his field. The beauty of this tree attracted him and realizing that he could use this tree to help him escape poverty, he decided to grow and sell them. Soon he became the wealthiest and named this plant ‘’money tree.”
Care:
Pachira aquatica is grown outdoors in frost-free climates as a tropical ornamental. It is often grown indoors as a foliage houseplant or bonsai, with a braided trunk. It can be grown in full sun to partial shade in medium to wet soil in USDA zones 10-12. Ideally, they should be placed in areas that are protected from strong winds.
Pachira plants require moderate moisture, a drainage hole, and soil that drains well. Make sure that the potting mixture is moist, water thoroughly, and check back after 15 minutes to remove any remaining water in the run-off dish.
